In this article, experts make a case for adding art to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). Many experts in the art community believe that STEM is missing an essential component that may make this combination even more powerful.
The objective of the STEAM movement:
– transform research policy to place Art and Design in the center of Stem
- encourage integration of Art + Design in k-12 education
- influence employers to hire artists and designers to drive innovation
Additionally, this article describes a few specific examples of how the arts can be added to STEM and what this practice can look like in schools.
