This one page handout with nine talk moves is a guide to utilize with students when engaging in academic discussions. It contains specific goals and sentence starters for students to use and track in either a group or partner setting. Once students acquire the talk moves, they are able to fluently add more, rebut, or question others’ contributions, leading to productive discussions and enhanced speaking skills.
