Why Art Matters: Dr. Linda F. Nathan at TEDxCalhounschool

Nathan, Linda. (2013, April 1).  Why Art Matters: Dr. Linda F. Nathan at TEDxCalhounschool.

In this video, Linda Nathan the founding headmaster of Boston Arts Academy and internationally recognized teacher, author and speaker on school reform explores the importance of the arts as key to a complete educational experience. She believes that the arts can transform students’ lives in ways that are unprecedented and ways that have the potential to change the society in which we live. She shares her passion, 3 different stories as evidence and a theory. She believes that art education is central to rethinking how schools can engage students in the learning process, critical in helping our young people in developing a lens to talk about race, socioeconomic differences and gender. Nathan argues that art creates another language and way of experiencing relationship, ultimately transforming student lives.
