Biography
Sarah Mahmoud Ghulman is from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Since 2008, she has held several English as a Second Language (ESL) teaching and administrative positions at King Abdulaziz University and the University of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. Also, she has had international experiences in both Boston and Istanbul. During her studies at the University of Miami, Sarah co-taught a graduate level course: Teacher & Student Well-Being in Education, and is currently teaching at the Intensive English Program (IEP). Sarah is currently a third-year PhD student in the Language and Literacy Learning in Multilingual Settings program area and is interested in language and identity, social emotional learning (SEL), mindfulness and wellbeing for students and teachers, and research for a social change. Her work with the CEWRC includes exploring access and opportunity to critical STEM literacies for underrepresented and historically marginalized adolescents, and financial literacy curricula. In her free time, Sarah loves to get engaged in hand crafts like sewing, gardening, and cooking, as well as to explore the world and learn about different cultures.
