The Breakfast Effect. Should school breakfast be served in the classroom?

The Breakfast Effect. Should school breakfast be served in the classroom?. (2014, February 20).

Research has proven that serving breakfast in the classroom has a positive effect on students’ health and academic achievement and can prevent school districts from exceeding budgets. The Breakfast in the Classroom is served within the first ten minutes of class. Although critics say it isn’t helpful and increases childhood obesity, experts in the video discuss the research linking Breakfast in the Classroom to improved attendance and academic performance, as well as the cost-effectiveness of the program.

The research has also shown that there are smaller rates of body mass index (BMI) for students who participated in Breakfast in the Classroom. It also was proven through data to especially assist diverse student populations, students who are low-performers, and students with lower than average BMI. Dr. Charles Basch states that although individuals think it is challenging to implement the program, it is quite feasible to implement. Despite what critics may believe, all research has proven that Breakfast in the Classroom has exemplified numerous benefits across many schools.
