Project STEM+L is a NSF-funded research project that aims to help adolescents (age~10-13) from diverse backgrounds in developing core integrated science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and digital literacies (STEM+L) practices. The participating students will engage in a hybrid STEM+L Academy program in which they will collaborate in small groups to work towards producing a multimodal science fiction. The STEM+L Academy includes a summer camp, fall Saturday meetings, and final presentation. In the process, the research team will provide support in terms of reading, writing, technology training, and mini science lessons related to the theme of environment and human health. The research team will also collect online surveys, interviews, video data, and student artifacts in order to understand how participants engage and learn in the program.
