Shannon Bell and Marquez Hughley’s Capstone, “Learning Trauma Coping and Healing Strategies Through Christian Communal, Faith-based Restorative Healing Practices” explored a social-constructivist approach to support community members’ learning trauma coping and healing strategies. Drawing on their own experiences and learnings from the AppLS program, they implemented a workshop using a Liberating Structures design that included guided activities that promote teamwork, written journal exercises, and Biblical case studies to equip participants with a personalized trauma plan. They found their workshop, conducted in an intimate (home) environment, supported participants learning to navigate trauma in the future and be more receptive to help.
