Why Earn a Master in Higher Education Administration?

In our Master’s in Higher Education, you engage in the first program in the nation based in Enrollment Management (EM), important to all higher education positions because it uses data-driven decision- making to promote student success and institutional health. In one of our three majors, you also learn the foundations of higher education, including history, diversity, and theory. And you can earn a certificate in an area other than your major—the dual credentialing that is so attractive to employers— with no extra time to degree. In our distinctive practicum, you not only pursue yearlong experiences in college and university offices but also learn how to connect those experiences to theory, research, and your own personal and professional development through journaling and reflective analysis. Paid graduate assistantships can support your studies while you build experience working in higher ed. You develop leadership skills in the areas that most interest you, such as residential life, student activities, admissions, financial aid, multicultural student affairs, institutional research, study abroad, athletics, and more. Faculty provide hands-on support throughout your program and job search or pursuit of doctoral studies.
