From Classroom to Clinic: Revolutionizing Healthcare Through Collaborative Innovation

This presentation will chart the journey of an innovative university wellness and technology initiative, Guardrails, created to provide pre-med students with hands-on experience while collecting data on a proactive, integrative, and holistic approach to health care. This university-based initiative inspired the formation of a private company that is now revolutionizing patient care for over 50,000 chronic condition patients across the country. The system is delivering highly significant and clinically meaningful improvements in patient outcomes, improving patient access to concierge-style care, and helping bridge the gaps in health equity. This talk will also delve into the challenges of navigating a mutually beneficial tech-transfer process, navigating the differences between academia and industry, and the integration of remote health technology into clinical workflows. The presentation emphasizes the value of translational research and illustrates how partnerships between academia and industry can scale solutions, driving significant change in health care.
