Dr. Kylie Martinez

Kylie Martinez is a doctoral student at the University of Miami Laboratory of Neuromuscular Research and Active Aging under the direction of Dr. Joseph Signorile. She works as a research assistant and is currently working on her dissertation proposal, which involves a cognitive-based yoga program for older adults. She enjoys teaching and was given the opportunity to teach the Exercise Physiology Laboratory Practicum: Neuromuscular and General Nutrition for Health and Performance at the University of Miami. Her research interests are primarily with older adults and Parkinson’s patients, emphasizing yoga as an exercise modality to improve quality of life and functionality. In addition, she is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) 200-hour certification and has taught yoga for more than five years.

Yoga for Anxiety, Relaxation, and Mindfulness
This interactive yoga session will offer a variety of yoga poses that focus on body awareness, relaxation, and mindfulness. It will aim to provide research-based breathing exercises to reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression.
