Shawn Post joined the University of Miami in 1989 and became Assistant Dean of the School of Education in 1994. She is currently the Associate Dean for undergraduate studies. She earned her Ph.D. in educational psychology/reading from the university, and is a licensed school psychologist.
Her teaching focuses on educational psychology, reading comprehension, diagnosis of reading and related learning disabilities, and educational writing. Since 1989 she has taught at the School of Medicine’s Summer Motivational Program. She is a former director of the University’s Reading/Study Skills Center.
Post serves on the University’s Communications Council, Substance Abuse Committee, Office of Disabilities Services: Appeals Board, and Orientation Committee. She is also education liaison to the Office of Admissions and a chair of the University’s Miami-Dade County Public Schools Advisory Board.
She is a member of the International Reading Association, American Psychological Association (Division 16 – School Psychology), Florida Association of School Psychologists, Florida Reading Association, National Association of Developmental Educators and Dade Reading Council.
