Dismantling the School to Prison Pipeline

Changing Direction: Dismantling the School to Prison Pipeline. (2014, April 28).

If a child is not in school, then you have to ask yourself, “what is that child doing?” This video highlights efforts by Georgia Appleseed and its volunteers to dismantle the school to prison pipeline through effective school discipline, including Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). An effort is being made to replace punishments of minor infractions with positive reinforcement in the form of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports- a research based practice. The Appleseed foundation is looking to change how children are being taught and disciplined. It is evident in this video that change is possible when stakeholders are involved and given a voice.
