In the black community, we believe in the grind and working 10x harder than everyone else in order to get where we want to be. Yet, in this flow and journey to making our dreams a reality we rarely take time to collect our thoughts or just breathe. Let’s start to change that. You deserve to put yourself first. Don’t let anyone make you feel guilty for saying no. Make time to do the things that relax you and make you feel at peace. Rest is necessary for keeping our mental health intact. Let’s rewrite the narrative that says we have to always put others first despite how detrimental this may be to us. Today, remember that you are a priority, show yourself some love in your own way.
