Congratulations on your decision to attend the University of Miami in the fall. My name is Gina Astorini and I am the Director of Undergraduate Academic Services and Advising in the School of Education and Human Development. You will find that our office provides advising for your major as well as your long term career goals right from the first day that you step onto campus. We work with students to create a 4 year Course Advising Plan (CAP), which incorporates student’s plans for study abroad, 2nd majors as well as program requirements for future advanced studies and post-graduate degrees.
I have constructed a course selection process for you that should be easy to follow and will allow you to choose courses that will count for your major as well as your general education requirements. Please select your major and then click on the hyper-link which will take you to a page outlining the courses that you should enroll for your first semester.
Once you have identified the courses that you should enroll (based on SAT placement and AP/IB credit), please proceed to the registration process. Go to your CaneLink account and access the Student Center. From there you will go to “My Class Schedule” and follow the correct prompts to register for the courses that you have been instructed to enroll.
If you need further help after reading through the information for your particular major, please send an e-mail to me or Ms. Bethany Angiolillo, the senior advisor for the Kinesiology and Sport Science Majors. One of us will respond to your e-mail. Please include your phone number in case we need to speak with you.
Good luck and we look forward to meeting you in August!
