Dr. Kevin Washington Visits SEHD Faculty and Students

Coral Gables, FL – On Thursday, April 27 the CEW-RC hosted Dr. Kevin Washington, who is a licensed psychologist in Florida and Washington, DC. He has taught/lectured at several colleges nationally and internationally. Currently, he is the President of the Association of Black Psychologists and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Human Development and Psychoeducational Studies at Howard University. Dr. Washington does work on healing the psycho-spiritual wounds that are present within people as a result of Cultural and Historical Trauma.

Dr. Washington gave the following presentation titled: On Warrior-Healers: A Call to Action for Counselors as Social Justice Advocates and Mental Health Professional. He met with faculty of the School of Education and Human Development and with the Department of Educational and Psychological Studies graduate students for a lively discussion. Approximately 30 students and faculty members attended this event. We thank Dr. Washington for his engaging conversation and we look forward to hosting similar talks in the next academic year!
